Blood Bowl, the video game based on the Games Workshop tabletop fantasy football game from the Warhammer universe, is back. And looking spiffy as ever.
Blood Bowl III has now been revealed. For the uninitiated, it’s American football with very loose rules. Which means you can basically do anything violent to make sure you get the ball to the end zone and stop the other team doing the same. The catch is, like the tabletop game, it’s turn-based. Think NFL Street but more violent and less quick and you should be on the right track.
Then add in very brutal (or terminal) injuries, and the ability to gain experience, skills and stat bonus as you progress and that should be Blood Bowl.
Take a look at the trailer here:
For Blood Bowl III, developer Cyanide will be adopting the upcoming new edition ruleset. At the moment, Games Workshop teased two new teams- the fancy and feathery Imperial Nobility and the wilder Black Orcs. The two are now confirmed to be in Blood Bowl III, alongside ten more for a total of 12 teams at launch.
Publisher Nacon also confirmed that each team will have their own home arena and cheerleaders, campaign and multiplayer modes, customisation options and post-launch content updates.
After the weird experiment of the previous Blood Bowl game, this looks like a return to form. Let’s hope the new edition of Blood Bowl the tabletop also turns out good.
Blood Bowl III will be out in 2021 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch.
