Battletech, the strategy RPG about making sure your merry group of MechWarriors can pay bills on time, has a new expansion out. The second of planned three expansions, Urban Warfare takes your mech fights to the streets of urban complexes.
Buildings can be used as vantage points, and they can be blown up for tactical advantage too. There’s plenty of cover compared to the regular biomes available in the base game, or the first expansion Flashpoint. The expansion also includes the ability to use Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) that can negate enemy target systems, new Flashpoints, new BattleMechs and new enemy vehicles.
Also, as typically as Paradox-published games are, there is a free update coinciding Urban Warfare’s release for owners of the base game. There are now more nodes in the Star Map and a new Battle+ Encounter type that adds new variables like new secondary objectives and allies for either side of any mission. Plus, stray shots can hit and explode buildings or hit other nearby enemies, though this is only active in single-player. Various bug fixes are also included.
Battletech Urban Warfare is out now on Steam for RM39. You can also get the season pass, containing Flashpoint, Urban Warfare and a third expansion, Heavy Metal, to be released in Winter 2019 for RM80.
