Graven, previously described as a “retro-FPS” or a “boomer-shooter” but now referred to as a “dark-fantasy action-adventure FPS”, has now left Early Access. After three years, the game is now available as a full release on PC, with console versions coming later this year.
Version 1.0 of Graven adds two new zones, with the first zone Hub 1 getting further polish. There are also new weapons, upgrades, spells, enemies and boss fights in the full release.
Graven also supports online co-op up to 8 players. Yeah, 8, that seems like overkill but hey, it’s a feature.
In Graven, you are an exiled Priest Of The Orthogonal Order seeking vengeance. You must now cleanse the Order and save the world, with some guidance from the devine.
Graven has the aesthetic of a 3D boomer-shooter in the same veins of, say, Hexen, but gameplay-wise it has a lot more puzzle-solving, exploration in open-ended areas and side quests. So it’s more of a blend of action-adventure, fantasy RPG and an FPS. Which explains the new way of referring this game as.
Graven is developed by Slipgate Ironworks- the team that contributed to games like Ghostrunner– and co-published by 3D Realms and Fulqrum Publishing.
Graven is out now on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG).
