A.I.L.A Is A Horror Game Where Playtesting AI-Created Video Games Gets Too Real

Behold, a topical video game. A.I.L.A has a simple and succinct premise: you’re a Quality Assurance tester for upcoming video games.

That itself could be a horror game premise, but the zinger here is that the games are being made by the titular A.I.L.A, an artificial intelligence. And all the games they’re making are horror titles.

This revolutionary artificial intelligence is not like the current slop generators we have today, A.I.L.A’s virtual reality horror games feels real, too real.

And here you are, having to endure through various flavours of horror games including survival horror, psychological horror and action horror. At least it’s all a video game… right? Right?

The premise sounds like a Torment Nexus situation, in that this sounds cool as a premise of fiction which you’d pray that no techbro decide to unironically make it real.

Expect puzzle solving, a cult that doesn’t want you to escape from the horrific virtual reality and combat against monstrous beings. There’s a shotgun featured in the trailer. And expect themes of “always-on tech,” and surveillance to be part of the story.

A.I.L.A is developed by Brazilian indie devs Pulsatix Studios and published by Fireshine Games and The Iterative Collective.

A.I.L.A is out now on PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S.
