As FV Cup 2017 draws near, the organisers are starting to reveal the international pro players that will join in the premier fighting game tournament in Malaysia.
Street Fighter V will be seeing many big names competing with the local folks, FV Cup is part of the Capcom Pro Tour as a Ranking Event. First to be revealed is none other than Infiltration. The EVO 2016 champion might be having a quiet season so far this year, but never count the Korean out just yet. He was known in the Street Fighter IV days as a multi-character specialist- mastering various characters at a high level.
Expect to see the Razer-sponsored player bringing his A-game (and maybe Monster energy [...]
Don’t just call it a hero shooter. The new open world shooter based in the Saints Row universe but not a Saints Row game Agents Of Mayhem is out now. Featuring 12 different characters with different abilities and personalities, assemble your team of three to take down the evil organisation LEGION.
The tone is loosely based in Saturday morning cartoons of yore, which explains the G.I. Joe-like assemble cast (and public service announcements) , just with more swearing in the mix.
If you’re in the mood for a fun mindless shooter it’s a solid game, though if you’re expecting an open world romp ala Saints Row this will prove disappointing. Reviews [...]
Construct additional pylons. The remastered version of the original StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War is out now. With support for up to 4K resolution with more details in the graphics and sound of the influential RTS games, StarCraft looks better than ever. There is an ability to switch the graphics of the old and remastered graphics on the fly with a click of a button to see the differences.
Aside from that, there is also matchmaking and leaderboards for multiplayer, stat tracking for player profiles and cloud saves.
The remaster costs $14.99 USD (RM64.40) and still requires the download of the original game, now available for free here.
Last year we saw a Malaysian indie game became a breakout sensation. Sara Is Missing got a huge buzz for making a horror/thriller game all around the premise of a lost smart phone.
It looks like a few of the developers have now band under a new name, Kaigan Games. And they are now working on a spiritual successor to Sarah Is Missing titled SIMULACRA.
SIMULACRA will still be a horror game based around the interface of a smartphone. It’s time to peek into the device of someone else and explore what the person has kept inside, as well as interact with the contacts of the phone owner and unravel what happened to her.
You can check out the preview article from [...]
Oh no. Last week it was revealed that Middle-earth: Shadow Of War, the follow-up to Monolith’s 2014 hit Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor, will have micro-transactions. A premium currency, gold, will exist alongside the in-game currency, mithril, and can be used to purchase XP boosters as well as loot boxes.
You read that right, loot boxes. These comes in two varieties: Loot Chests for gear you can equip on player character Talion, and War Chests that gives you random Orc followers.
The full lowdown can be read here, but in essence they ensured that these micro-transactions only mean you can save time gaining good gear and Orc followers- all the items can be gained [...]
Well, this is awkward. Blizzard announced last year they will phase out the use of the Battle.net name. Battle.net was the multiplayer structure that powers games before it was a commonplace feature, but now serves as the name of Blizzard’s launcher on PC.
The name change was supposedly to get all Blizzard products a unified name- not every gamer today was there when the name Battle.net made sense. So they slowly phased out the Battle.net name and rename the launcher as the Blizzard App.
Looks like they are backing down on the name change. “Battle.net is the central nervous system for Blizzard games and the connective tissue that has brought Blizzard players [...]
Another week and another good indie title that’s yours to keep forever!
GOG is giving away Undead Action Platformer Deadlight: Director’s Cut as part of their latest Pinata Madness sale (which could see you picking up a mystery game in their catalog for only 13 Ringgit!)
The game puts you into the shoes of Randall as he “searches for his family in this gorgeous, gritty, destroyed world” that the folks at Tequila Works and Abstanction Games made.
Anyway, to redeem the game, simply visit the GOG.com and you’ll see their promo right on top of the site or just by visiting this link.
But hurry, the promo ends on Wednesday!
Looks like the organisers of FV Cup 2017 managed to pull off a surprise. The premier fighting game tournament in Malaysia is part of the Capcom Pro Tour for Street Fighter V- which means international pro players will come here and local players will get a shot at competing with the best on home soil.
Unfortunately, FV Cup will not be part of the Tekken World Tour for Tekken 7. So to bring up the hype for the blooming Tekken community in Malaysia, they managed to bring in one international player to come over to Kuala Lumpur.
Yes, the Queen Of Tekken herself, CYCLOPS OSAKA Tanukana will make an appearance at FV Cup 2017. Tanukana made third place early this year at [...]
If you hope that Malaysian Dota players made a bigger impact in this year’s The International, then it did, sort of. There were four Malaysians playing at the premier Dota 2 tournament with a prize pool exceeding $20 million USD. Fnatic, now only housing two Malaysians, were unfortunately eliminated early on in the group stage after placing last in Group A. MidOne, a former Fnatic player who were there when they reached 4th place last year, also didn’t fare better at Team Secret. They finished 9th place after losing to Team Liquid- the eventual winners of The International 2017.
That left Tue “ahfu” Soon Chuan as the sole Malaysian standing. The support player is [...]
Who’s your daddy? Jecht, the pro blitzball player and father to the whiny but loveable hero of Final Fantasy X, Tidus, joins the Dissidia Final Fantasy roster. Those familiar with the series might have already seen him in action in previous titles, but last week he was announced to join the latest Dissidia, now in arcades and will appear on the PS4 as Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.
And what better way to show him off then a trailer of him beating his own son at what it seems to be a stage based on Besaid Island with that one rocking soundtrack from FFX playing. No wonder Tidus has daddy issues.
No date when Jecht will be available for the arcades, but expect him to [...]
Game Informer has some new details on how the HQ works in Call Of Duty WWII. Imagine the Tower in Destiny, the HQ is a social space, an instance of up to 48 players can hang out in a period-accurate camp. It is not just a hub to wait for matchmaking, but a space you can explore, interact with fellow soldiers and do a lot of things.
One peculiar feature is that you can open loot boxes here in HQ. Interestingly, you can also spectate other people open loot boxes and stand a chance to win prizes. How this will work is not clear, but the idea of rewarding people watching loot boxes can be a bit sleazy if you think about it. Surely looking at all the cool cosmetic stuff would [...]
Publicity stunt or genuine curiosity for esports? Whatever the main reason why the folks at low-cost airliners AirAsia decided to field their employees to rep the company and participate at the Selangor Cyber Games, we sure glad they did.
Under the banner of AirAsia Allstars Esports Club, fourteen employees of AirAsia have banded together to participate in two open tournaments- two of them play in the 1V1 FIFA Online 3 tournament whereas the rest make up the two squads participating in the Dota 2 tournament.
The following is the list of players:
FIFA Online 3 Players: – Jason Lim Tiat Long – Tan Swee Chun
FUN Team Dota 2 – Ashley Boay Mei [...]
