Metro 2039 Announced, Full Reveal This Week

4A Games’ next game has been revealed: Metro 2039. The follow-up to Metro Exodus and Metro 2033 was revealed via social posts, teasing the full reveal to come in a special showcase on April 16, this week, at 1 AM Malaysian Time, GMT +8.

That special showcase is called Xbox First Look: Metro 2039. The reveal will be done on Xbox’s YouTube channel.

It’s a curious new direction for Xbox, which will be hosting two showcases specifically on one upcoming game. Metro 2039 will be for April, while in May we will witness Xbox Presents: A Special Look at Stranger Than Heaven for RGG Studio’s new game, Stranger Than Heaven.

The original Metro 2033 is based on the novel of the same name written by Dmitry Glukhovsky (who also posted on social of the Metro 2039 reveal), making it one of two novel-to-video-game adaptations from Eastern Europe that now becomes a AAA video game franchise, similar to The Witcher.

Outside of being a great FPS on its own merit, the sequel, Metro Exodus, is also notable for being an early adopter of ray-tracing back when Nvidia introduced the first generation of GeForce RTX graphics cards, as well as one of the earlier titles to launch as an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC.
