You Can Now Change Your PSN ID

but be wary of possible issues

Playstation has finally rolled out the function to change the PSN ID. If you wish to change your display name, it’s now possible.

This was first allowed for beta testers a few months ago but now the functionality has rolled out to everyone.

Changing your name for the first time is free, but subsequent changes will cost you $9.99 USD (around RM41), with PS Plus subscribers only need to pay $4.99 USD.

You can change your ID as many times as you want, and your previous ID will still be under your possession- meaning no one can use your old handle. Reverting to any of your previous IDs are free.

There’s a big reason why this is so. As mentioned in when the beta was rolling out, games launched before April 1st, 2018 may or may not be compatible with the ID change.

There is a list of tested games that work and not working with the ID change. The critical ones will have you lose access to DLC, progression, saves and even online play, but so far that list is pretty thin. Unless you are playing the listed games with issues, you should be fine with changing your ID.

With all that said, here’s how to change your PSN ID, as explained on Playstation Blog:
