For one reason or another, when Yakuza: Like A Dragon launched in English last November on PS4, PC and Xbox One/Series X|S, it was missing on Steam (as well as on Xbox ) for Southeast Asia. The only way for English-speaking players in the region to play the JRPG was to get the PS4 version.
Not anymore. Yakuza: Like A Dragon is now available to the rest of Asia in English on PC and Xbox starting today. The original announcement by Sega Asia only mentioned Windows 10 PCs, but the Steam page is now finally accessible for Southeast Asia players as well. The game is priced at RM229.
Yakuza: Like A Dragon tells the tale of ex-Yakuza man Ichiban Kasuga, as he starts a fresh new life on the streets of Ichinjo, Yokohama after the folks he was loyal to was not what they since his prison sentence. Kasuga will be making new friends and allies as he gets roped into the criminal underworld that supports this new town.
New to Like A Dragon is the shift into JRPG instead of a traditional action brawler- which makes a lot more sense despite some rough edges. But it still carries the silly, charming, and sometimes touching tales tucked in the side stories and mini-games. You can check out our review here.
Yakuza: Like A Dragon is also Gamer Malaya and Gamer Matters’ Game Of The Year for 2020.
