Xbox is currently testing what’s called the “aggregated game library” for the Xbox PC app.
Xbox Insiders can beta test this new feature which allows you to add games from other PC launchers to the Xbox PC App. The Xbox post only says “Xbox, Game Pass, Battle.net and other leading storefronts” but it’s safe to assume Steam and the Epic Games Store, among others, should be available as well, with support for more storefronts being added in the future.
With the aggregated game library, you can just use one app, the Xbox PC app, to browse and launch all your PC games.
It’s not a novel idea by any means, you can add non-Steam games to Steam and GOG Galaxy also has a similar function. But this will indeed make the Xbox App a more convenient “first-choice” PC launcher if it works as well as it’s intended to be.
This is a feature that will ship when the ROG Xbox Ally portable PC handheld launches. The promise of the Xbox-branded Ally is that it will keep Windows running at a minimal, bloat-free, so that all that resources is used for gaming.
While this sounds critical for a handheld PC that’s supposed to be as convenient as a portable console like a Switch 2, folks gaming on PC in general will be benefiting from Microsoft’s efforts in making the Xbox PC app better for gaming.
