Warframe Operation: Buried Depths Update Adds Reworked Melee, A Big Buff Lady Warframe And More

Warframe just released its latest update on PC, with consoles coming soon after. The Operation: Buried Depths update adds more content to the free-to-play looter-shooter, as well as gameplay changes and events.

The namesake Operation: Buried Depths is the first community event for 2019 where players work together on a multi-part operation. Rewards such as Emblem and Sigil, Amalgam Mods, and the Opticor Vandal will be given should you take part.

In addition, there’s a new warframe added: Hildryn. The buff lady warframe uses her shields to use abilities instead of the usual energy meter. Though she does have abilities to steal shields from enemies, as well as transfer it to allies. And her fourth ability lets her go airborne and fire rockets.

The Melee system has been reworked again. Now there is no button to switch to melee from guns- should you attack with melee, it will stay equipped until you press fire again which automatically changes to the gun you last equipped. If you are in a middle of a melee combo but decided to shoot, bullet jump or parkour the combo continues where you left off.

This is Phase 1 of a full melee overhaul, though it’s not the first time developers Digital Extremes have done this.

The update also adds Ephermera, cosmetic effects for your footsteps. As for weapons, there’s the new Larkspur Arch-gun (Hildryn’s signature weapon) and the Tatsu, a two-handed nikana.

Last week, Warframe changed its alert system into Nightwave, a series of daily and weekly challenges that is essentially a free battle pass.
