Sega announced that it’s changing the price for three of its games on Steam. The affected titles will get a permanent price drop for its base price, as in this isn’t a discount.
The titles getting this permanent price drop on Steam are Lost Judgment, Like A Dragon: Ishin! and Sonic Superstars. The following are the new pricing in Malaysian Ringgit:
- Lost Judgment: RM179 -> RM128
- Like A Dragon: Ishin! RM189 -> RM128
- Sonic Superstars RM159 -> RM128
Note that these games often go on sale with deep discounts, more than the new base pricing are. But still an interesting move to see Sega adjusting some of their back catalogue of games to a “budget-friendly” price.
In Malaysian Ringgit, RM128 is more than half the price of a full-priced game (RM299, the current equivalent to a full-priced $70 USD title). It’s decently priced for a video game.
However, the price drops here are only for the Steam versions of these games.
Lost Judgment is the latest entry of the Judgment series released in 2021 with the PC port arriving a year later. It features an crime investigation plot, the locales as seen in the Yakuza/Like A Dragon series but with no direct story relationship between the series, and the fluid beat-’em-up combat system.
Like A Dragon Ishin! meanwhile is the remake of Like A Dragon Ishin which never got an English release, and the first title to drop the Yakuza name series in favour of Like A Dragon (with mixed results). Unlike the other Kiwami remakes that makes use of the Dragon Engine and effectively different games compared to its source material, Like A Dragon Ishin! is more of a faithful remaster in that in plays just like the original Ishin, featuring the combat style seen in Yakuza 3,4,5 and 0, and a period story about the early days of a reforming Japan.
