VR And Ray-Tracing (For PC) Coming To Hitman 3, Plus New Maps And Modes In 2022

Hitman 3 is getting more content next year, as publisher/developer IO Interactive announces Year 2 of Hitman 3 content.

Next year will see the PC version of the sandbox stealth-murder puzzler getting ray-tracing support and also a VR version. The VR version of Hitman 3, for now, is a PS VR exclusive.

More details of Hitman 3 VR on PC will be revealed close to January 20, 2022, which marks the start of Year 2 (and the game’s first year anniversary).

Alongside that, you can expect to see a new mode, Elusive Targets Arcade. Elusive Targets are unique to the Hitman games, as there are limited-time assassination targets where you get only one shot to kill them. If you were not there, you missed it. And if you missed your shot and either fail to kill the target or fail to exit the map after the kill, you never get to redo it.

Thankfully, Elusive Targets Arcade will be “a permanent addition to the game”, the blog post reads.

Also, new maps and other new modes are teased. Whether these will be free or, more likely, will be part of a Year 2 paid DLC we don’t know just yet.

Lastly, a major update is coming in Spring 2022. The blog post teases new images of a fancy abode hidden in the wilderness, as well as a target range with a variety of weapons displayed on a rack, which is giving some Hitman 2 Silent Assassin vibes.

IO Interactive also announced that over 50 million players have played the World Of Assassination trilogy (Hitman 2016, Hitman 2 and Hitman 3), with Hitman 3 now the most successful Hitman game of all time.

After the tribulations the Denmark-based studio faced after the messy launch and ultimately failed business model of Hitman 2016, to now having expanded to Sweden and Spain and working on a James Bond game, that’s a big turnaround of events in the past five years.
