Vampire: The Masquerade Goes Battle Royale In Bloodhunt, Releasing Later This Year

Vampire: The Masquerade… battle royale? The cult IP about vampires living among us in secret because they are adhering because of a law (hence, The Masquerade) is an odd choice for a battle royale. But that’s what new developers Sharkmob is doing with its debut game, Bloodhunt.

Bloodhunt is a free-to-play battle royale where you play as vampires, killing each other during the nights of a locked-down city of Prague. Loot weapons, use vampire abilities and customisable characters.

Sharkmob is a new studio made up of veterans that have worked on The Division and the Hitman series, among others.

In most video games of Vampire: The Masquerade so far, a lot of it has been centred on having Kindreds hide in plain sight. So a battle royale where these vampires just kill each other in the open sounds really weird, something the devs admitted in a news post on the game’s website.

“The Vampire: The Masquerade IP may seem like an unusual choice for a battle royale, but as long-time fans, we were intrigued by the idea of an unfolding conflict involving rival Kindred factions fighting for dominance and Second Inquisition hunters bent on eradicating all vampires, all while trying to maintain the Masquerade,” the post reads.

Bloodhunt promises no pay-to-win mechanics, and there is a closed alpha test you can sign up for here.

Bloodhunt releases later this year on PC via Steam, and will be free-to-play.
