There Will Be A Gran Turismo Sport LAN Event At The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya In 2018
Looks like Gran Turismo Sport has lined up one LAN event for its esports venture. According to SoyMotor (via GTPlanet), the 24 Hours of Barcelona will play host to a Gran Turismo LAN event at its dedicated esports space within the venue. The esports space was launched by GT series creator Kazunori Yamauchi.
The event will take place sometime in September next year as part of an FIA-supported Championship. GT Sport’s Sport Mode, the competitive multiplayer mode the game is built around of, is also sanctioned by the FIA.
The question now is whether the circuit itself will be playable in GT Sport by that time. It would be odd to host an event for a sim racing tournament for a game that has not yet included the circuit of its venue. Forza Motorsport 7, Project CARS 2 and Codemasters’ F1 games have included Catalunya, so it could possibly be something to look forward to. Developers Polyphony has plans to include more cars and tracks regularly, including a proper single-player campaign coming sometime this year.
