A new The Sims 4 expansion pack has been announced and it’s coming real soon. The third expansion pack this year following Living Together and Horse Ranch,The Sims 4 For Rent Expansion Packs adds the ability for Sims to own property for rent, as well as the ability to live in rented homes where one lot can host multiple households.
The Sims 4 already had apartments before, but each room on the same floor is treated as a separate lot, and the landlord/landlady/property owner is an NPC Sim. The Sims 4 For Rent by contrast allows you to make any lot to be liveable by multiple families, where the housing unit can be own by a player-controlled Sim.
This new lot type can be applied to other Worlds as well, so it’s not a built-in lot type locked to that world like apartments have been. Now you can make your own apartment complex (or for the diabolical ones out there, make tiny rooms out of pre-existing houses so you can squeeze more tenants in).
As a property owner, you can generate income from renting lots, but you need to manage your ratings, as the rented homes can face issues like insect manifestations and mold.
The Sims 4 For Rent will also add a new World, Tomarang. Tomarang is inspired by Southeast Asia, and expect most of the new Build Mode items are influenced from this part of the world. Furniture made of rattan, those plastic chairs, and external air-con units can be spotted in the first few screenshots of the expansion’s reveal. The town also hosts a Night Market. And Sims can cook new delicacies including the Khao Niao Mamuang, Tofu Pad Thai, Pancit Bihon, Burmese Samosa Soup, Banh Cuon, Halo Halo and a Thai Iced Milk Tea.
The Sims 4 For Rent will also add four new aspirations, five Traits (Nosy, Generous, Cringe, Child of the Village and Wise) and one new Fear (fear of getting evicted).
The Sims 4 For Rent expansion will be available on December 7 on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, EA App), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
