The Sims 4 Horse Ranch Gameplay Trailer Ain’t Horsing Around

The upcoming expansion pack for The Sims 4 Horse Ranch gets a gameplay trailer, showing the new features through a story.

The trailer gives a glimpse of the new world Chestnut Ridge, as well as the big new feature in the paid DLC: Horses. Horses, similar to cats and dogs, have a whole life cycle and have traits that determine their personality. Horses can be customised as well. We see a dark stallion with fiery patterns on its legwarmers and matching saddle fit for an edgelord, and some truly goofy patterns as a result of freely painting on a pony to make it the perfect steed for a clown.

With horses comes new Build mode objects to build stables. As the theme of the pack goes, expect more countryside objects and features to be added in this aspect.

Horses require some care, which means there will be plenty of interactions with them which includes petting, playing ball, feeding, and even trimming the hoofs. The trailer cheekily cuts to a first-person perspective showing some equestrian pedicure action, though with the level fidelity of The Sims 4’s graphics don’t expect it to be as gross/satisfying as those horseshoe fitment videos as seen on YouTube.

Of course, there’s horse riding, which is a new skill. Sims can also make nectar a.k.a. “not-wine” by crushing different fruits and bottling them up to be later served in “not-wine” glasses.

Also, a few new NPCs from Chestnut Ridge is featured. Sienna owns the Equestrian Park (possibly a new lot type) in the town, and Roberto Crinkletop will appear in dance parties but no one really knows where he lives. Also, we see ghost horses, because of course there are ghost horses. Hopefully, they don’t give Sims nightmares. But aren’t ghost horses just called Nightmares?

The Sims 4 Horse Ranch is saddling up for release on July 20 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, EA App), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
