Gran Turismo has done various stunts like this, announcing the launch of a car within the game alongside its real-life unveiling. But this is the first for its latest iteration.
The interesting takeaway here is the specified release window- April 2018. So far, Gran Turismo Sport has been receiving timely monthly updates beginning with just three cars in November, 12 more cars and the much-requested proper single-player campaign in the form of GT League in December, 10 cars and the Monza track for January and recently, an assortment of 12 cars and new layouts for one existing circuit for February.
The promise that developers Polyphony Digital will bring 50 additional new cars by March. So this is the first confirmation that updates will still continue after March, at least by one more month.
