The King Is Watching is an upcoming roguelite kingdom builder where you are the king, and the title is literal.
Your royal subjects are affected by your gaze, they may slack off if they are not in your field of vision. And it makes sense, who wouldn’t be terrified when the literal eyes of the king is floating in the sky gazing upon you. This is one the games where the birds-eye view in strategy games are explained in lore.
The game loop of The King Is Watching revolves around ensuring your subjects create enough resources, and defend from waves of enemies attacking the castle.
The King Is Watching just released a new demo, available now on Steam. Unlike previous demos, you can farm twice as many resources, allowing you quicker access to spells to use for your castle’s protection.
The demo also features updated pixel graphics as well as a redesigned roguelike system.
If you’re not sold on the previous demos, give this new one a shot and see if the changes are headed in the right direction.
The King Is Watching is developed by indie devs Hynohead Studio and published by TinyBuild.
The King Is Watching is expected to release in early 2025 on PC (Steam).
