Streets Of Rogue 2 Releasing On Steam Early Access This August

Streets Of Rogue 2, the open-world sandbox RPG now has a release date, as revealed during the PC Gaming Show 2024 showcase. It will launch this August in Early Access.

The game is developed by one Matt Dabrowski and published by TinyBuild.

While the original game was constrained as a rougelike with immersive sim elements, Streets Of Rogue 2 expands that idea into a full open world with many, many ways to live out a life and achieve your one goal.

The new trailer shows off many different mechanics, including farming, house-building, as well as the ability to inject something into the air filtration system to make everyone in the room embiggen. Wild stuff.

The trailer also features music from synthwave artist Perturbator.

Streets Of Rogue 2 lets you play as different characters, each having different talents ranging from a hacker to a chef. The aim of the game is take over the country. And how you do so is up to you. Whether that be becoming filthy rich with the power of infinite bribes or stage a zombie outbreak and anything in the middle.

You can also use various weapons (ranging from flamethrowers to banana peels) and drive various vehicles inn the massive procedurally-generated map.

There is still that immersive sim quality in Streets Of Rogue 2 (in a media kit full of screenshots of the game, one has a 0451 reference in its name).

The original Streets Of Rogue is a RPG roguelite which imagines a game ala Deus Ex, with all its interacting systems, as a roguelite. The original game has since sold over 1 million copies. The sequel is built on top of that idea, but is expanding massively beyond just a Deus Ex homage.

Streets Of Rogue 2 releases on Steam Early Access on August 14.
