Take-Two Interactive has sold its indie publishing label Private Division to another party.
The sum of the sale and the said party that acquired it is undisclosed. The sale includes all live and unreleased titles under Private Division.
Support for No Rest For The Wicked, developed by Moon Studios and currently in Early Access, will still be under Take-Two.
The parent company of 2K and Rockstar Games is no longer looking to publish indie games. Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that Take-Two is “in the business of making great big hits.”
“We’re really best at these big AAA experiences. We have the biggest intellectual properties in the interactive entertainment business, some of the biggest intellectual properties in the overall entertainment business and to make sequels to existing beloved franchises as well as to create new hit intellectual properties is our mission.”
Earlier this year, reports emerged that developers Roll7 and Intercept Games, both owned by Private Division, have been closed down. Zelnick earlier claimed that the studios have not been closed, but GamesIndustry.biz has confirmed with a Take-Two spokesperson that studios behind OlliOlli World, Rollerdrome and Kerbal Space Program 2 (which is still in Early Access) have indeed closed down.
Private Division will still be around, but it will be operating without any of its internal studios anymore.
