Starlight Re:Volver, the upcoming game by indie devs Pahdo Labs, will enter Early Access and now has a release date.
Starlight Re:Volver is part co-op action roguelite, part social MMO, and is unquestionably anime-coded.
The main game has you play an action roguelite where you take control of Divers, characters that can harness the power of Re:Volvers and face against various enemies. Pick a Diver each with different play styles, form a party of up to 4 players (or play solo), and take out various enemies in a top-down style action roguelite. There are different biomes and various perks that come in the form of a pick-one-of-three choices. Also, there are magical girl transformations.
The other half of the Starlight Re:Volver is a social hangout space. Go around Nishi Island Metropolis and say hi and chat to fellow players and chill out with various mini-games (even fishing, because of course there is a fishing a mini-game).
Think “Hades meets Sailor Moon meets Club Penguin”, as the devs pitched this. If you haven’t noticed yet, there’s a lot of that sweet, bubbly kind of anime aesthetic the game has going for it.
And it’s pretty popular too. Starlight Re:Volver’s Steam Next Fest demo were among the most popular ones from the last session back in June, a list that also includes rhythm-based action game Dead As Disco and rhythm-based strategy roguelike Ratatan.
Speaking of rhythms, the release date announcement for Starlight Re:Volver comes with this new trailer, featuring a new song by VTuber and virtual IRyS from hololive English. Starlight Re:Volver has made a number of music collabs like this, they previously collaborated with Sarah Bonito, Diana Garnet and LilyPichu in the lead up to the launch.
Players can dive into Starlight Re:Volver when it launches in Steam Early Access on August 27.
