Ixion is a city-builder set in the space station where survival elements and space exploration comes hand-in-hand with managing pressure from the people and corporate overlords.
The game, by Bulwark Studios and publisher Kasedo Games is out now.
Bulwark Studios is known for creating the fantastic strategy tactics game Warhammer 40,000 Mechanicus. While Ixion’s art style has a pristine and optimistic vibe to it (inspired by artwork from NASA), its tone might still have a little grimdark gameplay-wise and soundtrack-wise (Guillaume David, the composer for Mechanicus returns, and you can even hear the pipe organ in the release trailer).
In Ixion, you are the administrator of Tiqqun Station. You are not the first choice of the leader of this space station- housing a ring where you can build settlements and workplaces.
As the remaining few humans left in the universe, you must explore space in hopes of a new home, deal with other remnants of human life, stop fires and other hazards inside the space station, and keep all your stakeholders happy or face the consequences.
The name Ixion alludes to the Greek mythology of a god chained on a fiery wheel that’s constantly spinning. Which explains the shape of the space station and the stakes at play.
