Sloclap, the indie devs behind the melee brawler Absolver, has announced their new game in the February 2021 State Of Play broadcast. It’s called Sifu.
You are out to hunt the assassins of your family and beat the people up standing against your way. Brawls can happen in the suburbs or corporate hallways.
The dazzling part of the reveal trailer, aside from its nice aesthetic choice, is the combat itself. If you’ve seen or played Absolver, this will look familiar, but turning it into a full Kung-Fu looks great here. It’s all hand-to-hand combat, with some use of improvisation like weapons and environmental hazards.
Similar to Absolver, Sifu is about self-improvement. Get better by learning from your mistakes, and then unlock new skills and master the techniques of Pak-Mei Kung-Fu. It’s right there in the name.
Sifu is releasing on PS4, PS5 and PC via the Epic Games Store.
