Psyonix has announced that its breakout sportsball game with cars Rocket League will be removing all random loot crates.
In a blog post, the developers announced that they will be replacing random loot crates where you can buy with real money with a system that will show exactly what you are buying ala X-Ray Llamas in Fortnite Save The World.
This would be in line with Rocket League’s other purchasable cosmetics such as DLC cars, the esports shop and the Rocket Pass Premium. These will remain unchanged.
Expect to see these random loot crates to be removed sometime later this year, with more specific details on the new system replacing it coming as well.
It looks like the more and more paid loot boxes are getting removed from games, as the result of the great loot box debacle of 2018. Fairer ways of spending more money on games to support the developers are fine and should be commended.
Rocket League’s Radical Summer event is still ongoing right now.
