Respawn Working On Three New Star Wars Games All In Different Genres

EA announced that their collaboration with Lucasfilm Games continues, with three new Star Wars games in the works.

The three projects are being spearheaded by Respawn Entertainment, with Vince Zampella, Group GM and Respawn founder overseeing the development.

The first game is an obvious one, the “next game in the action-adventure Star Wars Jedi series”. It’s not clear if this is a direct sequel to Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order as of now, but it’s in the same series, and will be developed by the same team led by Stig Asmussen.

Another team at Respawn will be working on an “all-new Star Wars first-person shooter game”, which to say, it’s not a Star Wars Battlefront sequel. This team is being led by Peter Hirschmann who has credits on multiple Star Wars games in the past.

The third game is a collaboration between Respawn and new studio Bit Reactor, founded by veterans from Firaxis led by Greg Foertsch. This will be a strategy game. Development is led by Bit Reactor, with Respawn on production duties.

EA may have lost exclusive rights to develop Star Wars games, but that doesn’t mean the relationship between them and Lucasfilm (and Disney) are over. The big surprise here is how much Respawn now is being responsible for the next few Star Wars games, surely due to how well Jedi Fallen Order was received.

Outside of EA, there’s a Star Wars game in development at Ubisoft and Quantic Dream.
