Resident Evil Requiem Sales Passes 5 Million Copies In Less Than A Week

It hasn’t been a full week since the launch of Resident Evil Requiem, the latest (ninth, for those keeping count) numbered entry to the survival horror series, and Capcom has announced it sold more than five million copies.

To be specific, Resident Evil Requiem sold 5 million copies in five days.

It’s a good showing, as the fabled series that more or less defined the survival horror genre is celebrating its 30th anniversary this month, in March.

Resident Evil Requiem sees players return to Racoon City, the setting seen in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 (both the originals and remakes) (plus a few other non-numbered entries including Resident Evil Outbreak). Featuring a dual protagonist setup with two disparate gameplay styles, players must survive the horror as Grace Ashcroft while the horrors will be praying to survive against hatchet-wielding chainsaw-parrying actionaire Leon S. Kennedy.

Unlike Resident Evil 6, Requiem found the right balance between action and horror based on early reviews.

Resident Evil Requiem is also notable for being playable entirely in both first-person and third-person perspectives.

More recently, Capcom Asia hosted a launch event for Resident Evil Requiem in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Resident Evil Requiem is out now on PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
