Gangstar Mirage City Soft Launching In Southeast Asia This August

Remember Gangstar? Gameloft’s open world action game set in urban centers for mobile devices (i.e. a GTA clone on mobile) is getting a new entry in the form of Gangstar Mirage City.

Published by Level Infinite, Gangstar Mirage City has soft launched in the Philippines and based on the feedback from this, a bigger release with “refined gameplay and deeper localisation” will be coming to the Southeast Asia rollout. The game will be available in Tagalog, Indonesian, and Thai languages, for those in SEA that prefers to play games in their native tongue.

Gangstar Mirage City is set in the near-future where players can take on structured narrative content, or just do whatever the gameplay systems allow you to do and engage in “chaotic, unscripted emergent gameplay.” Players can collect and modify cars ranging from supercars to armoured trucks. Co-op is available as you take on heists with other players. There’s a territory control system where you can earn income and influence by making yourself present in the city. And there’s also PVP modes including team-based vehicle combat, a “last-player-standing showdown” (don’t call it a battle royale) and more.

There’s been a good number of free-to-play open world titles releasing on mobile as of late, especially those of the urban variety. Earlier this year, NTE released with its take of an open world GTA-like, with its twist being a supernatural-centered story. Sometime this year, Ananta and its smorgasbord of open world gameplay content will be out. Gangstar Mirage City will be filling the void for those who prefer their urban open world games not having an anime art style. And this is the year where a spanking new GTA game is releasing, so it’s prime time to get those who are not interested in forking a console and a high upfront price get a taste of an urban open world game.

Pre-registration is currently available for Gangstar Mirage City. The game will soft launch in Southeast Asia on August 20 for iOS and Android.
