Insomniac Games’ iconic duo is heading to PC this July. Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart, the latest adventure of the titular heroes and a PS5 launch game, will be available for the first time outside of a console.
Nixxes, a PlayStation Studio, handles the PC port, which will include the following PC features:
- Ray-traced reflections
- Ray-traced shadows
- Ultrawide support (21:9, 32:9, 48:9)
- Upscaling tech – Nvidia DLSS 3, AMD FSR 2, Intel XeSS, Insomniac’s Temporal Injection
- Nvidia Reflex support
- Nvidia DLAA
- PC and keyboard controls
- DualSense features available if connected to PC
The 20th Anniversary Armor Pack, which was free DLC, is included with the PC release.
Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart will see you follow the new adventures of Ratchet & Clank into a new parallel dimension, including meeting up with their dimension counterparts, as the longtime villain Dr. Nefarious manages to find a dimension where he rules the universe.
For PC players who never played the series, Rift Apart is a standalone story. Sure it has nods and winks at its past where many characters make a reappearance, but don’t worry about it. The story’s fine if you’re jumping in fresh.
What you need to know is that you and your companion robot that sits on your back is off to some planet-hopping adventures, you’ll get an airdash early in the game that lets you move past laser barriers, plenty of fun platforming that rewards you for going around and there’s an amazing performance by voice actor Richard Horvitz somewhere in there.
No, I’m not describing Star Wars Jedi Survivor but it’s funny how many it lines up. But hopefully Ratchet has better PC performance at launch than Jedi Survivor did.
Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart is out now on PS5 and coming to PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) on July 26.
