Red Dead Online, the online component to Red Dead Redemption II, is now rolling out. The phased rollout which leads to its full launch on November 30th is to ensure the servers are all up and running- this is still the beta release.
And as such, developers Rockstar Games make no guarantees whether progress made right now in Red Dead Online will be carried over when it leaves beta. Progress may be reset.
“We hope that all player progress during this early period of the Beta will be able to remain intact long term,” wrote Rockstar on a new blog post on the launch of Red Dead Online Beta.
“However as with many betas for large scale online experiences such as this, there is always the chance that we may need to implement rank or other stat resets in case of issues.”
So, it’s best to not get attached to your character and progress made so far, just in case a progression reset will happen once it leaves beta.
Thankfully, microtransactions are not yet active, though it is coming. The same blog post confirms that players can buy gold bars (equivalent to GTA Online’s shark cards) but also buy cosmetic items like camp decorations and styles for weapons directly.
Red Dead Online features at least 6 Showdown PVP modes, including its take on battle royale called Make It Count. The game also has free roam missions that changes depending on where your honour stands playable alone or with friends in your posse.
