Ubisoft announced that Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown will be available on mobile devices this April. The critically acclaimed Metroidvania/search-action game promises 60 FPS performance on “most recent generations of mobile devices”, support for touchscreen controls and external controller with fully customisable button remapping and touch control customisation. Also, the game is completely playable offline. No internet connection required.
New to the mobile port are more quality-of-life and accessibility options including auto-parry, auto-potion, slow time options and more, as Ubisoft doubles down on their accessibility efforts after Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown nabbed the Innovation In Accessibility award at The Game Awards 2024.
The mobile port of Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown is developed by Ubisoft Da Nang studio.
Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown has players control Sargon, an Immortal (as in, the Persian elite soldiers that are called Immortal, not literally), as he ventures to the mythological world of Mount Qaf to rescue Prince Ghassan.
While many remember Ubisoft for ushering the Prince Of Persia into 3D, the series did started out as a side-scrolling platformer of sorts. So a Metroidvania game like The Lost Crown is sort-of a return to parts of the series roots. The original Prince Of Persia games by Jordan Mechner didn’t have fast, fluid action and parries, though, so it’s not a straight homage, more of a coincidence.
Ubisoft was developing a full remake of Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time, but that has yet to materialised. Ubisoft has also published an roguelite developed by an indie developer known for roguelite Metroidvania, The Rogue Prince Of Persia.
Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown will be available on iOS and Android on April 14. The game is out now on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
