Nintendo Switch Sales Surpassed Wii U’s Lifetime Record In Just 10 Months

A surging start

The Nintendo Switch will mark its one year anniversary in March and even before reaching that, it has outsold its predecessor, the Wii U.

As of December 31, 2017, the Switch has sold 14.87 million units has been sold, surpassing the Wii U’s lifetime sales record at 13.56 million as of October 31, 2017. Even with more recent Wii U sales added in it’s safe to assume the Switch will be continue to sell more throughout its lifetime.

Compared to other Nintendo consoles of the past, the Gamecube sold 21.74 million whereas the Wii has a massive record of 101.63 million.

The best-selling title for the Switch so far has been Super Mario Odyssey, which was moving 2 million copies in the first days of its launch. It has sold 9 million. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold 7 million while The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild also doing well with 6.7 million
