Super Mario Odyssey Sold 2 Million Units In Just Three Days

October 27 was a pretty tough day for gamers. Three big titles was released all on the same date- Assassin’s Creed Origins, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and Super Mario Odyssey. So far, all three games have been a critical hit.

Super Mario Odyssey also had a very strong showing in terms of sales. According to a financial results briefing by Nintendo, the 3D platformer’s sales has exceeded 2 million copies in just the first three days.

There are various factors that can contribute to this: the Nintendo Switch is still new and has a small library of titles, the power of the Mario brand, but most importantly, it’s a very good game. It holds a 97 score at Metacritic at the time of writing.

Nintendo certainly has put their best foot in for the Switch. This, alongside The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, are already game of the year contenders.
