October 27 was a pretty tough day for gamers. Three big titles was released all on the same date- Assassin’s Creed Origins, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and Super Mario Odyssey. So far, all three games have been a critical hit.
Super Mario Odyssey also had a very strong showing in terms of sales. According to a financial results briefing by Nintendo, the 3D platformer’s sales has exceeded 2 million copies in just the first three days.
There are various factors that can contribute to this: the Nintendo Switch is still new and has a small library of titles, the power of the Mario brand, but most importantly, it’s a very good game. It holds a 97 score [...]
Already got a Nintendo Switch? If you are waiting for the next big Nintendo release, it’s coming really soon in the form of Super Mario Odyssey. Odyssey will offer the same kind of experience as Super Mario 64- the genesis of 3D platforming games, and Super Mario Sunshine.
But it will also be wackier. Mario now partners up with Cappy that allows him to “capture” items and beings to stop Bowser from marrying Princess Peach. And Bowser hired evil wedding planners to stop Mario.
The latest trailer here explains more of the gameplay loop. Mario has to collect Power Moons to power up his hat-shaped ship called the Odyssey to go to various kingdoms, each [...]
Nintendo is DOOMED… Thanks to the latest announcement in yesterday’s Nintendo Direct as Bethesda is releasing the highly acclaimed Doom 2016 and the soon to be released Wolfenstein : The New Colossus for the Nintendo Switch.
Doom 2016 on the Switch will include the multiplayer mode of the game (which will be avaliabe via a Day One update on launch) and all of the content already released in all in the other consoles. Curiously, It will be quite interesting to see how the game will fit in the small cartridge of the Switch, ditto for Wolfenstein 2 as the cartridge is reported to hold only 32GB of memory. So extra data download on the eShop perhaps?
E3 has come to a close, and the last bit of awards are now in. The biggest media outlets were able to vote for the best games shown at E3 in various categories and now the winners have been announced.
It comes to no surprise that Super Mario Odyssey wins the big Best Of Show award. Nintendo taking both huge risks with the introduction of new mechanics (like the possession ability) as well as going back to make sandbox-style 3D platformers like the past has gained high approval from critics (as well as fans, with their YouTube numbers being high as well). Odyssey also takes the Best Console Game and Best Action/Adventure Game award.
The other Mario game by Ubisoft, Mario [...]

At the end of the day, Zerk, one of the contestants qualified through the floor emerged champion and held the honour of lifting the championship belt. But then the announcer pulled a surprise exhibition match and called in ARMS producer Kosuke Yabuki to challenge the winner.
While many may feel the fighting game seems to be a bit too simplistic, Mr. Yabuki’s performance [...]
