Warframe has launched its latest content update, Techrot Encore today. Not only does it add four new Protoframes (which you can’t romance, to the dismay of fans of the much-loved new romance system with Protoframes introduced in Warframe 1999), a new Warframe and new content, it also makes changes for new players.
One of the biggest changes to the new player experience is the removal of one particular progression blocker that forces players to grind-craft a Necramech before they can proceed through the story, and reach the latest content in 1999.
Players attempting the cinematic quest The New War will now not require to own a Necramech to proceed. Instead, they will be given a loaner mech for that one particular short sequence where they have to use the mech.
In our recent feature, we mentioned the grind for the Necramech being a sore spot for new players, or returning players, to rush through and reach 1999. The grind for the Necramech was apparently even worse at launch, as players have to regularly run the iso vault missions which has a gear check and a game knowledge check which can be challenging for newer players who just want to plough through content and not think too much. The requirements have been loosen by not making iso vaults mandatory, but you have to engage in the many open world activities (mainly mining and fishing as well as doing bounties to raise syndicate rank) to gain enough resources to craft the Necramech parts.
All of the new Techrot Encore update content requires players to progress through The New War, so the removal of this one particular progression blocker should see another influx of new players now able to access the latest content this ongoing looter-shooter, which is celebrating its 12th year of operations via weekly freebies for players that logged in.
Warframe is out now on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and iOS, with cross-play and cross-save available on all platforms.
