Atlus has dropped a few more morsels of information, as well as new screenshots, for the upcoming remake of Persona 4, Persona 4 Revival.
Fans of Persona 4 should already know these characters by heart now, so keep shush—we’ll have that same whole fiery discourse when we get there after the game’s launch. That said, it’s interesting how Atlus carefully describes this batch of characters in a way that should intrigue the uninitiated.
The following are the description of these three characters as provided by Atlus through a press release:
Persona 4 Revival – Character Bios for Kanji, Teddie Naoto
- Kanji Tatsumi
- A first-year high school student with a fearsome reputation as a delinquent. Rough around the edges and honest to a fault, but deeply loyal. His mother, a textile shop owner, often scolds him about his clothing. His Persona is Take-Mikazuchi.
- Teddie
- A mysterious being who dwells in the TV world. Full of childlike curiosity and enthusiasm, he joins the Investigation Team to protect his home. His Persona is Kintoki-Douji
- Naoto Shirogane
- A first-year high school student and fifth-generation member of the Shirogane detective family. Intelligent and composed, Naoto works closely with the police to solve the case. Naoto’s Persona is Sukuna-Hikona
Persona 4 Revival – New Gameplay Details
As for gameplay, Atlus has revealed one new feature when you dungeon crawl through the TV World. Breakable objects can appear in the world, which may contain items, recovery effects (please, let there be SP recovery) or a map of the entire dungeon floor.
Shuffle Time will reappear in Persona 4 Revival. Just like in Persona 4 and Persona 4 Golden, Shuffle Time randomly appears at the end of battle where you get to pick a card (based on tarot cards) each with a different reward. Collect every card on screen to get a Sweep Bonus which increases EXP and money gain from battles.

The info drop complements the new story trailer that sets up the events of Persona 4 Revival. A small town high-schooler, an urban legend, a murder mystery, and Persona awakenings where these high-schoolers (and Teddie) are face against their true self.
Persona 4 Revival, a remake of Persona 4, has you take on the role of a high-schooler that just moved in to the small town of Yasoinaba. Players then get entangled into the town’s mysterious murder, an urban legend about the TV world where they pursue the truth as part of the Investigation Team, all while having a normal life of a high-schooler in a small town in Japan.
Persona 4 Revival should have all the hallmarks of a Persona game: a story that world that highlights the life of a high-schooler in modern Japan, the schedule management that comes with having to be a high-schooler but also complete dungeon runs before a deadline, slick presentation with eye-catching yet easy-to-discern UI as well as sick beats to listen to.
Persona 4 Revival launches on February 18 for the PS5, PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) and Xbox Series X|S. A physical version will be available in Southeast Asia just for the PS5.
