Daytona International Speedway, home of the Daytona 500 NASCAR race, the Daytona 24 Hours endurance race, and the namesake of that famous arcade game from Sega, is coming to Gran Turismo 7. This will see the return of the oval to Gran Turismo since Gran Turismo 6, as it was absent from 2017’s Gran Turismo Sport.
Developers Polyphony Digital used the same light traces easter egg from that many short videos, similar to how they revealed Deep Forest Raceway, to tease the return of the superspeedway.
Though if you watched the initial reveal trailer, you’d probably already spotted Daytona.
However, the light traces tease showed a brand-new configuration for the road course version, which has the NASCAR chicane right before the start/finish line (bottom left corner) on top of the bus stop chicane and international horseshoe.
This new gameplay video however, shows the normal road course version (without the extra chicanes) featuring a GT3 and GTE-class race cars racing while the sun is setting. The first lap shows an onboard view of a Porsche 911 RSR, and then we see the same lap unfold but from a TV-replay angle.
Also, interesting to note that some of the race cars here have updated liveries compared to their renditions in GT Sport. The Porsche is running the 2018/2019 livery with gold lines instead of red, for example.
The PS5 footage looks fantastic as ever, and the replay is displayed in fullscreen as well, unlike GT Sport.
Gran Turismo 7 will be coming out on March 4 for the PS4 and PS5.
