May 2022 Gran Turismo 7 Update Adds Three New Cars Including The Suzuki VGT

Another monthly free content update hits Gran Turismo 7 today, adding three new cars to the racing game. Update 1.15 for May 2022 adds mostly just that, three new cars.

One of which is something we knew previously, and another is a long-overdue addition. And the one car that has fans left scratching their heads guessing what it is when series producer Kazunori Yamauchi teased its silhouette last week, which is an all-new Vision Gran Turismo car.

The car we already expected is the Toyota GR010 Hybrid. This is the 2021 Hypercar class prototype car competing in this year’s World Endurance Series, which includes the 24 Hour Of Le Mans.

The GR010 was revealed to be added in GT7 from the Toyota GR GT Cup announcement, a competition that is held through the game’s Sport Mode.

The one long-overdue addition is the Roadster Shop Rampage. This is a tuner car and the winner of the 2014 GT Awards at SEMA, the annual car show. The rampage is a heavily modified 1970 Chevy Camaro. It doesn’t carry the GoPro branding went the car was showcased, but other than that it’s looking as beefy as its real-life counterpart.

All of the SEMA GT Awards winning cars will be featured in a Gran Turismo game, though the Rampage took eight years.

Lastly, Suzuki joins the club of car manufacturers to design a car specifically for Gran Turismo. The Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo is a 2-seat convertible powered by the Hayabusa engine as found in Suzuki’s high-end motorcycles. It’s only 970kg, ridiculously light for a car, and its stylings take cues from the Suzuki Swift Sport and Cappuccino.

There will be a Gr.3 racing version of the Suzuki VGT. Suzuki already has a Gr.4 car which is new to GT7, so it’s likely that Suzuki will be eligible for the next Manufacturer’s Cup.

All three cars can be purchased at Brand Central.

Unlike the previous update, no new track layouts are added.

Other than new Scapes featuring New Orleans, update 1.15 is lean on new content. However, there are more additions, as revealed in the patch notes. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Three new Menu Books to complete (so more cars to collect)
    • Menu Book No. 40: Enter the ‘Lightweight K-Cup’
    • Menu Book No. 41: Enter the ‘Vision Gran Turismo Trophy’
    • Menu Book No. 42: Enter the ‘Gr.1 Prototype Series’
  • more events in the World Circuits (three new races for the three new championships listed above)
  • more adjustments to the rewards payout for Custom Races and Arcade Races
  • export higher-res pictures from Scapes and Race Photo
    • Located under Showcase, My Items
    • 4K pictures on PS5 and PS4 Pro, 1080p on PS4
