As the battle royale craze continues, more developers are getting more ambitious to one-up the 100-player frenzy that is PUBG. Developers Automaton recently secured a huge funding to create a game codenamed Project X, the 1000-player online game which will feature a 400-player battle royale mode.
That game now has a proper title, enter Mavericks: Proving Grounds.
The title, as well a new teaser trailer, was revealed at the PC Gamer Weekender event just now. The teaser is nothing much, with forest environments being shown with distant sounds of gunfire. Sounds like a battle royale game alright.
However, the battle royale is only part of the experience. The 1000-player online game will feature a hub city of sorts for trading and other activities and is set to be available in 2019. The battle royale mode should arrive later this year. More info about Mavericks, according to the official site, is set to be revealed at the Games Developer Conference (GDC) this coming March.
