Lenovo’s Legion Gaming Laptops Getting Refreshed With New Nvidia GTX and RTX GPUs

Lenovo’s gaming line, Legion, is getting a hardware refresh this year. Just like the many other OEMs this week, Lenovo is also announcing new laptops using the new Nvidia GTX 16-Series and RTX 20-Series GPUs.

The Legion Y540, Y545 and Y740, are a step up to the previous Y530, which entered the Malaysian market last year. The Y540, available in both 15.6″ and 17.3″ variants, will be using the 9th-gen Intel Core CPU and a range of Nvidia GPUs, from the GTX 1650 and 1660Ti, all the way to the RTX 2060.

As for the Y545, it features a more prominent gaming design compared to the more subtle Y540 but features similar specs.

The flagship Y740, which again comes in both 15.6″ and 17.3″ variants, is equipped the 9th-gen Intel Core i7 and RTX 2080 (Max-Q) and a 144Hz 1080p display with Nvidia G-Sync. Though variants using only the GTX 160Ti is also available.

Joining the three are two new gaming laptops, one for entry-level and one with a more striking form factor. The Idea Pad L340 Gaming is essentially the corporate-approved work laptop but with a 9th-gen Core i7, GeForce GTX 1650 and Intel Optane memory. Nothing too crazy, but enough to play esports games and older AAA titles.

Whereas the Lenovo Legion Y7000 SE is a 15.6″ laptop with thin bezels, 144Hz screen, an RTX 2060 and a big red Y at the back.

We will have to wait until June to see the full specs, pricing, and availability of these models in Malaysia. Last year, only the Y530 made it to Malaysia.
