At the Xbox Games Showcase 2023, Capcom revealed a new game called Kunitsu-Gami: Path Of The Goddess. It’s an intriguing title, in particular the decision to only have “Kunitsu-Gami” spelt in Kanji.
More details emerged for Kunitsu-Gami at the following Capcom Showcase 2023 stream. The game is described to be a successor to both Okami and, interestingly, Shinsekai: Into The Depths.
The former is the much-loved action-adventure title featuring cel-shaded graphics and Japanese mythology, while the latter was initially an Apple Arcade exclusive game that was later ported to the Switch and is a side-scrolling adventure.
Kunitsu-Gami: Path Of The Goddess will be powered by the RE Engine and will feature strategic and action gameplay, delivered from what looks to be a fixed-camera perspective.
Here’s the story snippet for the game:
On the mountain where the Kami live, people are contaminated by sin with defilement, for which “The Seethe” comes. To drive out “The Seethe” and seal the defilement, lead the Miko to the shrine.
In any case, this Kunitsu-Gami looks like a more experimental, some might even say indie, game from Capcom. The fantastical art design here sure looks captivating, but a better look at how you actually play the game would have been nice.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path Of The Goddess has no release date yet, but it will be available on PS5, PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be available on Game Pass.
