For the uninitiated, Kingdom Hearts is the wild crossover action-RPG series where characters from Disney and Pixar collide with characters in the Final Fantasy series in an original story and world that spans more than just three mainline games. Franchise crossovers are something that regularly happen these days, but seeing Hercules interacting with Cloud Strife back in the day was something else.

The mainline games centers around Sora going on adventures with Donald and Goofy as they uncover the many fascinating concepts the world of Kingdom Hearts operates on such as the Heartless and the Nobodies. The spin-offs feature other playable characters.

Following the Kingdom Hearts Dark Seeker Saga required owning a PS2, a Game Boy Advance a PSP, a Nintendo DS, a Nintendo 3DS, as well as having to be in Japan with a web browser and a pre-smartphone mobile phone to play all of the games. You can’t stand on only one side of the platform wars if you want to keep with the Keyblade wars.

Thankfully, the collection of three games includes almost all of them, though some only exist as a collection of cinematics.

To celebrate the Steam release of Kingdom Hearts, the trailer features a re-recording of Simple And Clean, the theme song of the first Kingdom Hearts game performed by Hikaru Utada.

The trailer also shows footage of the games in chronological order.

The story of Kingdom Hearts isn’t over yet. A new story arc is set to begin with Kingdom Hearts IV.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III + Re:Mind DLC will be available on PC via Steam on June 13.
