Horizon: Zero Dawn Is Coming To PC Via Steam This Summer

2017’s open-world RPG Horizon: Zero Dawn is coming to PC. This is created by Guerilla Games, an SIE first-party studio. Yes, a Playstation exclusive is coming natively to PC.

Rumoured for quite a long time, Guerilla has finally announced the news with the reveal of the game on the Steam store.

The PC release is the Complete Edition, which includes the Frozen Wilds expansion. Outside of a summer (June-August) release window, there’s nothing else we know about the PC release.

SIE has helped published various 2nd-party indie games to PC before. Like ReadySet Heroes and Helldivers. But this is one of the biggest PS4 exclusives, by a Sony 1st-party to grace on PC natively, on Steam. It’s a big deal.

This opening of the floodgates is a new direction for the Playstation Worldwide Studios. But that doesn’t mean that all PS4, or PS5, exclusives are coming to PC. Speaking on Playstation Blog, Worldwide Studios head Herman Hulst said bringing Playstation games to PC will still be a per-game basis.

“And to maybe put a few minds at ease, releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC,” he said. “In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance. We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware.”

Horizon: Zero Dawn is powered by Guerilla’s own Decima game engine. Another game using that engine, Death Stranding, is also coming to PC. It’s also a Playstation-funded game, but the PC version is published by 505 Games instead.
