Here’s Some Gameplay Of Biomutant Running On Next-Gen Consoles

Experiment 101’s upcoming open-world action game Biomutant won’t have a native next-gen console version when it launches later this week. But both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles can play it via backwards compatibility.

THQ Nordic shared some footage of gameplay running on the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. It looks nice, with a target of 60fps on both consoles, but there is a caveat.

For the PS5, Biomutant won’t have native 4K resolution support at launch. It will be 1080p 60fps, but upscaled to 4K. Publisher THQ Nordic mentioned that native 4K resolution is deactivated due to “stability- and performance-related reasons”. More information on this will be coming later.

The Xbox Series X version is seen here running at native 4K 60fps.

For comparison, Biomutant will be locked to 30fps on a base PS4 and Xbox One, with dynamic resolution up to 1080p.

Despite not having a native next-gen version (and the caveat for PS5), it looks decent enough if you are playing on consoles. The next-gen consoles looks very comparable to the PC version.

Hats off to THQ Nordic for putting out the same slice of gameplay footage for all of the platforms for easy comparison.

Biomutant releases tomorrow, May 25, for the PS4, PC (Steam) and Xbox One.
