God Of War Laufey Launches In February 2027

The next big blockbuster PlayStation Studios game after Marvel’s Wolverine now has a date, and it’s actually rather soon.

Announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, God Of War Laufey now has a release date, it’s coming this February.

This aligns with previous information that confirms the next entry to the God Of War series (which will not see Kratos as the main protagonist) will be available physically via disc, as PlayStation intends to discontinue the release of any physical disc games starting January 2028.

In addition, the SDCC panel, which features developers Sony Santa Monica and the cast members behind the upcoming God Of War Laufey as panelists, also confirms that there will be another God Of War game to follow Laufey, and that one will star the god of war Kratos as usual.

God Of War Laufey is set concurrently during the events of God Of War (2018). The adventure follows Laufey’s journey in the afterlife, as she face against dead gods from other mythology. While Kratos and son Atreus went on through a rough but important bonding trip to the mountains as they mourn the loss of Laufey, Laufey is off hacking and slashing foes in the afterlife with a more agile combat system based on the current God Of War third-person over-the-shoulder-camera combat. She’s more than just a narrative macguffin in the wider story, despite seemingly appearing so in that 2018 soft-reboot hard-sequel to the God Of War series that kicks off the Norse mythology arc.

PlayStation has two more titles to be released this year: the fighting game Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls developed by Arc System Works and Sony XDev, and the next Marvel game by Insomniac, Marvel’s Wolverine. At the moment, outside of God Of War Laufey no other PlayStation Studios games have been announced to release in 2027 yet.

God Of War Laufey releases on February 16, 2027 for the PS5.
