Go On a Road Trip In Indie RPG Keep Driving

Indie devs YCJY Games have been making wildly different games and their latest project is no different. After the fast-paced run-based FPS of Post Void (which predates this year’s fast-paced run-based FPS Mullet MadJack), the team is making a road trip RPG called Keep Driving.

Keep Driving isn’t about the driving itself, the game presents itself in a 2D pixel art style and the act of driving is automatic. But rather, it’s about the road trip. What car to buy. Where to go. What to buy during a stop at the petrol station. Gameplay-wise it’s more closer to Oregon Trail II and FTL.

But it does take cues from another road trip driving game, Jalopy. In Keep Driving, the turn-based combat, if you would call it as such, are solving problems like how to get pass a flock of sheeps blocking the road, or being stuck behind a tractor. Random encounters come in the form of hitchhikers that you can give a lift.

There is car customisation, which is interesting for the car fans out there.

With the many roads you can take, Keep Driving offers multiple endings. And while you’re road tripping, expect a killer soundtrack by “local indie bands”, as in local to the developers who are based in Gothenburg. So expect rock bands based in Sweden like Westkust, whose song is playing in the trailer.

Keep Driving has no release date yet, but it’s coming out on PC (Steam).
