Monument Of Triumph Is Destiny 2’s Last Live Service Update, Goes Live This June

The next Destiny 2 content update will be its last, as Bungie announced Monuments Of Triumph. This is the last hurrah for the quasi-MMO, looter-shooter-ish sci-fantasy game that defied most genre conventions, for better or worse.

Monument Of Triumph adds a lot of things and will be making a lot of changes, as well as wrapping up the story as a love letter for all the players that ventured into Destiny 2 through its 12 years. You can check the full details on that here.

Destiny 2: The Collection will be available alongside this update. This new bundle includes all campaigns, Dungeon Keys, the 30th Anniversary Pack and other content that should include all previously paygated content. The individual packs and expansions will also be getting a permanent price drop when Monument Of Triumph launches in June.

Destiny 2 wrapped up its 10-year story arc with The Final Shape expansion, and from there, it lost all momentum that even a Star Wars-themed collab wasn’t able to retain the game’s usually loyal fanbase. Bungie is currently “incubating our next games” and from June onwards, the studio will only be supporting the newly launched Marathon as a live service.

That said, Destiny 2 should still stick around for a long while. The original Destiny from 2014 is still accessible even today, which should be good omen that despite the ending of live service, Destiny 2 will live on for some time.

Destiny 2 Monument Of Triumph goes live on June 9.
