Gran Turismo 7 Teases June 2026 Update Early With Four New Endurance Racing Prototypes

In an out-of-ordinary move, Polyphony Digital revealed a teaser trailer for the upcoming free update to Gran Turismo 7. No silhouettes and playing the guessing game for next month.

And technically, no silhouettes and playing the guessing game for this month either. This trailer, and the scheduled release date for the update, confirms there won’t be a May 2026 game update for Gran Turismo 7.

Shown during the GT World Series event at Milan taking place this weekend, the upcoming June 2026 update for Gran Turismo 7 will feature a stonking list of five new cars, four of which are up-to-date racing prototypes.

The Le Mans-winning Ferrari 499P, the Peugeot 9X8 (in its current iteration, with a rear wing), the BMW M Hybrid V8 and the championship-winning Porsche 963 will be hitting the track in Gran Turismo 7 next month. The fifth car, in a “blud thinks he’s part of the team” out-of-field choice (a standard Gran Turismo quirk), is a Porsche 911 safety car.

For the longest time, GT7 had featured the Toyota GR010 Hybrid was the sole representative of modern top-level endurance racing prototypes, but none of the competitors. And currently we’re in the golden age of top-level endurance racing prototypes as the WEC Hypercar and IMSA GTP categories are featuring more manufacturer presence than the last decade.

But it’s been so long that manufactures have come and went out of the championship (Lamborghini’s short-lived programmed folded with Acura and Alpine is set to follow). The featured GR010 Hybrid is technically outdated already, as Toyota is racing the rechristened Toyota TR010 Hybrid with a new bodywork package starting this year.

Still, this bodes well for GT7’s competitive players, who’ve been yearning for relevant race cars to be in the game. Look at the reaction from fans when the Spec III update added a new GT3 race car.

And there are not that many more to add to complete the list of still-racing (and upcoming) racing prototypes. Of the current field, all that’s left is the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH, the Cadillac V-Series.R, the recently debuted Genesis GMR-001, the Alpine A424 and the Acura ARX-06. And there’s at least two new manufacturers joining either WEC and IMSA—the two leading sportscar endurance racing championships in the world: Ford and McLaren.

Gran Turismo 7 updates typically releases on the last Thursday of each month. There will be no May 2026 content update, as the June 2026 update for Gran Turismo 7 will drop on June 11. Last month GT7 added a Twingo among its usual three-car additions. For those who don’t like whimsy cars, this next one is specifically for you.

Gran Turismo 7 is out now on PS4 and PS5.
