Free-To-Play Rocket League Won’t Require PS Plus Or Nintendo Switch Online Subscription For Multiplayer

Rocket League is going to free-to-play soon, and with that comes a ton of changes to the soccar game.

The biggest change listed in the new community update is the drop of PS Plus and Nintendo Switch Online subscription. These are requirements to play online multiplayer, but with Rocket League being free-to-play, dropping this requirement means more of the free-to-play players can get access to multiplayer too.

Xbox players still require an Xbox Live Gold membership, however.

The main changes outlined in the post is the streamlining of how seasons work. The Rocket Pass (battle pass), Competitive Seasons (ranked play) will now aligned together with the same starting point- on the new Season 1. When a season ends, it’s for both the current Rocket Pass and Competitive Season. Makes a lot of sense.

A higher tier of player rank (Supersonic Legend), a new player experience for newcomers, and the change from Rocket ID to be Epic Friends are other changes. Take a look at the full look at the new changes here.

The free-to-play switch to Rocket League is expected to drop sometime this month.
