Frontier’s first sports management game, and Formula One’s first licensed management game in decades, F1 Manager 2022 now has a release date. It will be a month apart from the other annual F1 game by EA and Codemasters, coming in late August.
The release date reveal also comes with some new gameplay footage. We get to see more of the in-game depiction of F1 racing, which the developers trying to emulate how the broadcasts of the actual sport look like.
This includes shots from the pitlane, usage of similar camera angles that you can expect from the live broadcast of race day, the tower graphic with the same fonts and styling as you would see on TV, with minor tweaks.
The minor tweak to the tower graphic is so that you always have information of the two cars you manage on the bottom of the screen. You can see each car’s fuel level, ERS battery charge and more.
The gameplay depicts 20 of the fastest race cars in the world zooming around the ring of fire in the streets of Baku, Azerbaijan. That’s the upcoming race for F1 this weekend. The 3D graphics look pretty decent, and interestingly enough a tad different from how the Codemasters F1 game look. F1 Manager 2022 has a lot of lighting bloom, which gives off that glowy look on the cars.
F1 Manager 2022 will be out on August 30 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-ordering the digital version will allow you early access five days ahead of the official launch, on August 25.
