Exoprimal Passes 1 Million Players

Capcom’s multiplayer team-based dino-busting action game with exosuits, Exorpimal, has over 1 million players.

The Exoprimal Twitter account tweeted this milestone, alongside an image of a new free skin for the exosuit Skywave. This free skin is to commemorate the milestone, and will be added in the Title Update coming August 16.

The August 16 Title Update will also be adding 10 Alpha Variant exosuits, giving each of the existing exosuit a new weapon which slightly changes their playstyle.

Exoprimal has received a mixed reception from Capcom fans due to elements of the game reminding people of the dormant survival horror/action shooter Dino Crisis. Dino Crisis features a ton of dinosaurs and a red-headed female as its protagonist. And Exoprimal hordes of dinosaurs and also a red-headed female, albeit as a supporting character in the story.

Still, there are certainly a lot of people who gave Exoprimal a go. The game is available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, which likely bolstered that number in some ways.

How many of that 1 million+ players remain actively playing Exoprimal remains to be seen. According to SteamDB, Exoprimal recorded peak concurrent player numbers at 4,522 players at the time of writing, though we have no idea how big of a percentage is the Exoprimal player base is on Steam compared to other platforms.

Exoprimal has a roadmap of content that stretches to three more seasons. Season 2 will see a collab with Street Fighter, while Season 3 will feature another Capcom IP, Monster Hunter.

Exoprimal is out now on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and available on Game Pass.
